Common Induction Standards online assessment tool

A user friendly online assessment tool, developed by CIS-Assessment in partnership with local authorities and the Private, Voluntary and Independent Care sector, is available free for care providers in Norfolk to assess and evidence an employees knowledge and practice against the Common Induction Standards. This assessment could be used at the interview stage or for new and existing staff to identify training needs and gaps in knowledge. It can be especially useful in identifying sections of the induction that experienced staff need to complete and can help you target training at the areas particularly needed. The beauty of using this online assessments is that it automatically and immediately shows the results of how a person has performed during the assessment. Managers don’t event need to be in the same location or town as the employee taking the assessment. All that is needed is internet access to access the results.

Managers are able to run reports on individuals or groups of people to identify individual and group learning needs. The results provide an opportunity for the manager to facilitate discussions about the Standards during supervision . The manager can identify if the employee already has the required knowledge, can be coached to fill some of the knowledge gaps or whether training is required. Where the manager ascertains that the person does have the knowledge following this discussion, the manager can enter additional information and can amend the overall score for the assessment.

This assessment tool is FREE to providers courtesy of a licence purchased by Norfolk County Council Community Services learning & Development Team.
